1. The student may elect to produce a thesis dealing with a
significant problem or inquiry in the field of art education (ART 600).
2. The student may elect an art studio concentration ( 6-9 credit hrs.
Art 510: painting, sculpture, computer graphics, ceramics, printmaking).
A thesis concerning a reflection of their work and an artist statement will
be submitted with their work.().
Prerequisites: submits a portfolio of slides of their work to indicate their
competence in a selected studio concentration.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: A Licensure Status Teachers
For admission consideration into a UNCP graduate program, the applicant must:
(a) submit a copy of any current licenses (the license may be in another content area) held by the NC Department of Public Instruction
(b) submit a completed application and a $40.00 non-refundable application fee;
(c) submit two copies (one of which must be an official copy) of transcripts from all colleges/universities attended; the transcripts must indicate the date that the baccalaureate degree was awarded.
(d) have a satisfactory undergraduate academic record and meet at least one on the following minimum GPA (4.0 scale) requirements: an overall GPA of at least a 2.5 on all undergraduate work, or an overall GPA of at least a 3.0 in the undergraduate major, or a GPA of at least a 3.0 on all work taken in the senior year.
(e) submit an official report of satisfactory scores on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
(f) have three letters of professional recommendation submitted on their behalf. At least one letter should be from a college/university faculty member in the undergraduate major of the applicant; at least one letter should be from the applicant's.
Additional information such as a personal interview may be required for admission to programs.
