Transfer Criteria

Students who attended a college or university after graduating from high school should apply for admission as a transfer applicant and meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 24 hours of transferable college-level coursework (completed or in progress)
  • Applicants with less than 24 transferable credit hours may be reviewed based on freshman criteria.
  • Students under the age of 21 will also be expected to meet the freshman admission criteria.
  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA for all college courses as calculated by the UNC Pembroke Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Some academic programs at UNCP may have admission requirements that exceed those listed above.

How Credits Transfer

Knowing how your credits will transfer is an important factor in your transfer decision. Visit the Transfer Course Equivalency Page to look up how specific courses will transfer to UNCP. Only courses of ā€œCā€ or better can be transferred. This is not the entire list of course accepted for credit, but contains courses that have previously been reviewed by the Office of Admissions at UNCP. If you have specific questions about a course not listed, please email, transfer@uncp.edu. If admitted to UNCP, you will receive a full evaluation of all previous coursework.

Maynor Honors College

Transfer students are welcome to apply to the Honors College by submitting an application. You should have a 3.5 GPA in 12 or more hours of college-level work to be considered. Honors transfer credit may apply for transfer students who are members of honors programs at other institutions.
