Biography
I am a 23 year old registered nurse at Duke University Medical Center. I work on the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. We do heart and lung transplants, cardiac bypass, aortic aneurysms, Heart Valves, etc. I received my BSN from UNCP in 2008. I plan on attending anesthesia school within the next 2 years with a goal of receiving my Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist degree.
What was the most important thing you learned while attending UNCP
I learned how to be a great student. I previously attended 2 other UNC schools before transferring to UNCP. UNCP gave me the study skills and the drive to excel in the field of nursing. UNCP also instilled in me academic discipline, of which I was lacking in years prior.
What advice would you give to current or prospective students?
If you have a goal, go after it. Dare to be great at whatever you do. Remember compassion for others around you. Ask for help when you do not know an answer. Seek advice from others who have gone before you.
