What have you learned while teaching at UNCP?
I have learned to be flexible and to adapt my courses to changing demands and different learning styles. I have enjoyed working with a diverse student body.
What do students like best about your class?
My personal involvement as a teacher is one of the most appreciated aspects of my language courses. Class activities are participatory and amount to a kind of immersion in other cultures. Students encourage each other to be part of a learning community. They especially enjoy the use of technology in the classroom. They like navigating the web and learning about geography, music, and way of life of other people. Many decide to participate in study abroad programs in Peru, Mexico, Spain or other countries.
What makes the classroom experience at UNCP unique?
Faculty’s personal involvement with the students and tailored assistance on specific tasks are encouraged here at UNCP.
Additional Comments
I look forward to expanding our offerings of foreign languages, increasing the number of students majoring in languages, and establishing a second language requirement for all students. In addition, I would love to see more students participate in study-abroad programs.
