Biography
I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I married Dr. John Raacke in July of 1999 and we have two daughters (Callie and Brooke). We currently live in Laurinburg, NC.
What have you learned while teaching at UNCP?
I have learned two things. First, if you challenge UNCP students to succeed within the classroom, they will do so! Many UNCP students will take advantage of opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom. This is great!

Second, I have learned that I love my job! Being a professor and helping students to achieve high academic standards within the classroom is what I was meant to do!
What do students like best about your class?
I do not know! I hope that students like that their learning is a top priority for me. I also include lots of “hands-on” activities, personal stories, and technology to make the material more relevant for them. Students probably also find my classes to be very organized.
What makes the classroom experience at UNCP unique?
Students truly appreciate their college education. UNCP students do not take college for granted and work very hard to be able to pay for college and balance demands of family too.
Additional Comments
I LOVE to get UNCP students involved in research. Students in my TRIADS lab (www.uncp.edu/triadslab) learn how to conduct social science research and present findings at local and national conferences.
