I was raised in a small North Carolina town. Both of my parents are teachers. Until participating in high school internships, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. These experiences made me realize that I wanted to follow in my parents' footsteps and be an educator. UNCP offered the small town atmosphere I was accustomed to and the quality academics that I needed to prepare for a teaching career.

I was looking for a school that would compliment my desire to become a teacher. UNCP offers a top rate education program. I think that the location was also a key deciding factor. UNCP is just far enough away from home that I feel independent but not too far away from home.

The one-on-one teacher and student interaction. I was afraid that when I left high school I would just be a face in the crowd. That's not how it is at UNCP. Teachers are actually concerned with you personally as well as academically. They want you to succeed.
