The Office of Sponsored Research & Programs is available to assist faculty and staff with every step of the proposal development process. Applicants should begin development well in advance of the deadline, in order to prepare a competitive proposal.
Institutional approval of proposals/RAMSES
Prior to submission to the funding agency, UNCP lead investigators must obtain UNCP institutional approval for the proposal. This is done using the RAMSeS system, which electronically routes the proposal to the investigator's chair and dean.
Please contact OSRP for assistance with using the RAMSES system.
UNCP Profile & Minority Institutions Status
UNCP was founded in 1887 as Croatan Normal School in rural southeastern NC to train the local Native American population’s public school teachers. It has grown to become a comprehensive, regional master's level degree-granting university and one of 17 institutions that comprise the University of North Carolina system. UNCP is one of the most diverse campuses in the US (Native American 16%, African American 32%, Hispanic/Latino 4%, Caucasian 41%, Asian 2%, and Other 5%.) Fall 2013 enrollment was 6,202, largely undergraduate and principally from Southeastern NC. Enrollment includes a large number of first generation college students. UNCP prides itself on a personalized learning environment with small class sizes. It has developed academic and student support programs that recognize the different learning and academic needs of its students and that value the diversity of the various cultures on campus.
