Your Mind Matters

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke offers a strong liberal arts education, providing you a solid foundation from which to build a knowledge base. By coming to grips with the great ideas and art works in our culture, a liberal arts education teaches certain habits of mind, such as clear thinking, sound reasoning and lucid writing—skills, which you will use for the rest of your life.

Another way to think about a liberal arts education is this:

A liberal arts education makes you eminently adaptable.

Whatever your major (we offer 41 of them), whether it's art, philosophy, biology, business or computer science, you will experience the scholarly aspects of your discipline as well as the "what-am-I-going-to-do-with-my-life" realities. Many of our departments require internships or senior theses, hands-on experiences you can use to demonstrate your talents to an employer or graduate school admissions counselor.

And, of course, you will receive guidance on our intellectual journey from Pembroke's outstanding faculty—teacher-scholars, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of knowledge—especially yours.
