#BraveNation Powwow and Gathering

The inaugural #BraveNation Powwow and Gathering will be held March 18, 2017, in the gym of the Jones Athletic Center.

Everyone is invited to join the #BraveNation as we celebrate the rich history and culture of America’s Indigenous peoples. The inaugural event features a social for UNC Pembroke alumni at 4 p.m. This is an alcohol and drug-free event.


Schedule of Events

  • 10 a.m.: Doors open to the public
  • 12 p.m.: Grand Entry
  • 4-5 p.m.
    • Alumni Reception
    • Dinner Break
  • 5 p.m.: Contest Finals/Inter-tribal/Results/Closing Ceremonies



  • Adults: $5
  • Advance Tickets: $4, available from the Givens Performing Arts Center Box Office (910.521.6361), Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Elders (60+): $3
  • $1 Off Ticket: Bring three non-perishable items powwow to support UNCP CARE Resource Center.
  • UNCP Students (with UNCP ID): Free
  • Children (6 and under): Free
  • Dancer Registration: each dancer will pay the general admission fee of $5 and be allowed entry into one competition.
  • Drum Registration: each member of the drum will pay the general admission fee of $5.

Vendor registration is $50 (arts and crafts), $75 (food), and no cost (informational). Please complete and return the form, along with a check or money order to the Southeast American Indian Studies Program.
