Mr. Huadong Lu, a native of Guangzhou, China, received his Bachelors Degree in Violin Performance from the Conservatory of Guangzhou. In 1993, he received full scholarship to study the violin with Professor Si-hon Ma at Kent State University. In 1993, he graduated with two Masters Degrees, one in Violin Performance, and one in Education.
His professional performance experiences include playing with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra (Akron, Ohio), Lincoln Symphony (Lincoln, Nebraska), the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra (Newburgh, New York).
He taught orchestras in public schools in Nebraska and New York. Between 1997 and 2014, he served as Music Director/Conductor of the Lincoln Youth Symphony, the Chamber Orchestra of Union College (Lincoln, Nebraska), the Orange County Youth Symphony and the Southern Hudson Youth Symphony (New York). He is passionate about broadening young students’ cultural horizons by taking them overseas to perform exchange concerts with young musicians in other countries. His performance trips include places such as London, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; Prague, Czech Republic; Seoul, South Korea; Beijing, Guangzhou, China, and Hong Kong. Mr. Lu has guest-conducted youth orchestras and given violin and chamber music master classes to very talented young students in Guangzhou, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
This past summer he was invited by the Music Office of the Hong Kong government to be the conductor for their youth orchestra summer camp in Hong Kong. Currently, Mr. Lu is Adjunct Professor of Violin and Orchestra Director at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
