Susan Edkins, MS, LAT, ATC

Mrs. Edkins is in her 26th year at UNCP. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department and has served as the Program Director for the Athletic Training Program since October 2004. Prior to becoming the Program Director, Edkins served as the Clinical Education Coordinator. Her primary teaching responsibilities include: Nutrition, Exercise and Nutrition Prescription, Organization and Administration of Athletic Training, BOC Prep I/II, and Clinical Education V. Edkins previously served several positions within the Athletic Department, including Head Athletic Trainer, Assistant Athletic Director, Compliance Officer, and Senior Woman Administrator.
She is a 1989 graduate from UNC Chapel Hill where she earned a B.A in Biology and a B.S. in Physcial Education. Edkins earned her M.S. in Physical Education and Human Movement Studies from the University of Oregon in 1991, while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Ducks' athletic program. She is married to Brian Edkins, a former UNCP soccer standout, who is the Principal at South View Senior High School in Hope Mills, NC. The couple resides in Lumberton and are the parents of three boys.
Beverly Justice, MS, LAT, ATC

Ms. Justice is in her 23rd year at UNC Pembroke and has served as the Athletic Training Program's Clinical Coordinator since November 2004. As Clinical Education Coordinator, Justice is responsible for overseeing the clinical education component of the Athletic Training Program as well as coordinating all of the clinical rotations the ATP's students perform, both on- and off-campus. In addition, she serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department.
Her primary teaching responsibilities include Lower Extremity Assessment and lab, Upper Extremity Assessment and lab, Evidence-Based Practice, Clinical Education I, and Exercise Physiology.
Justice previously served as the Head Volleyball Coach at UNC Pemborke for seven seasons and the Assistant Athletic Trainer for 11 years. She also served as the assistant volleyball coach and assistant women's basketball coach during her tenure at UNC Pembroke.
The Whiteville, NC native graduated from UNC Pembroke (then Pembroke State University) in 1992 with a BS in Health, Physical Education and Recreation: Athletic Training. She then became a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Western Michigan University where she earned her masters degree in Physical Education.
Caroline Taylor, MA, LAT, ATC
Caroline Taylor joins the Department of Health and Human Performance full-time as a Lecturer in the Athletic Training Program after previously teaching adjunct. She also served as a graduate assistant and then a full-time faculty member and Assistant Athletic Trainer for several years. She comes to UNCP from Southeastern Health where she served as the Athletic Training Supervisor overseeing the 6 certified athletic trainers who serve the Public Schools of Robeson County and she also worked in the clinic with Dr. Eric Breitbart at Southeastern Orthopedics. Caroline is a native of Bladen County and a 2002 gradaute of East Carolina University. She completed her Master of Arts degree in Physical Education at UNCP in 2006 while serving as a gradaute assistant athletic trainer with women's soccer and women's basketball. She is teaching Therapeutic Modalities and the lab, Emergency Procedures, Therapeutic Exercise and the lab, Clinical Education II, III and IV. Caroline and her husband Brad reside in Dublin, NC with their three children.

Micheal Blackburn joined UNCP in August 2009 as the Head Athletic Trainer. He serves as a peceptor for the Athletic Training Program in his primary sport assignment of football. His primary teaching assignment is Anatomy and Physiology.
Joey Tamburo , MS, LAT, ATC

Joey Tamburo returned to UNCP as a member of the ATP faculty in August 2013. He is a 2011 graduate of the UNCP ATP. He competed his masters degree at California University of Pennsylvania in 2012 and worked in a clinic/outreach position at a high school in Pittsburg for a year following the completion of his graduate degree. He serves as a preceptor with his primary sport assignments of men's soccer and basketball. His primary teaching assignments are Anatomy and Physiology I Lab and Kinesiology and the lab.
Rose Bussey, MS, LAT, ATC
Rose Bussey served as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer at UNCP for two years prior to joining the ATP faculty in August 2014. She received her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and her master's degree in EXSS from UNC Pembroke. She serves as a preceptor with her primary sport assignments of women's soccer and women's basketball. Her primary teaching assignment is Intro to Athletic Training for potential Athletic Training majors.
Amanda Notley, MEd, LAT, ATC
Amanda joins the UNC Pembroke Athletic Training faculty after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. She provided medical coverage for the women's soccer and baseball teams at BGSU. After completing her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training at Defiance College in Ohio, she served as an athletic training intern at Greensboro College where she worked with volleyball, women's basketball and baseball. Amanda also has experience working with two minor league baseball teams in Ohio as an athletic training intern. She serves as a preceptor with her primary sport assignments of baseball and women's golf and her primary teaching assignments are Anatomy and Physiology I and the lab.
