This is a student organized club that was created to further engage and support the conversational skills of Spanish language students. In addition to great conversational practice, the club's student organizers can assist all levels of students with their writing skills and specific course materials. Sigma Delta Pi

Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society’s (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica) purposes are: 1) To honor those who attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking peoples; 2) To honor those who have made the Hispanic contributions to modern culture better known in the English-speaking world; 3) To encourage college and university students to acquire a greater interest in and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture; 4) To foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech; 5) To serve its membership in ways which will contribute to the attainment of the goals and ideals of the society.

Study Abroad - Madrid - Spring Break 2014

Annual Foreign Languages Student Research Conference

Every academic year, several of our students present original research (in Spanish!), under the mentorship of our faculty. The focus of this research includes Peninsular and Latin American literature and film. All UNCP faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend. We are excited to provide our students with opportunities to showcase their work, and are hoping that this event will become a UNCP Foreign Languages tradition for many years to come!

Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF)

SAF has 20-years experience providing opportunities for students and farmworkers to learn about each other's lives, share resources and skills and build diverse coalitions working for social change. SAF offers students a 10-week summer program and 6-month internship program that include stipends and scholarship opportunities. To see what upper-level classes will be offered, please, check Braveweb. Discuss the contents with your professors on Advising Week and check with your advisers for scheduling. Notice that besides the traditional Spanish and French offerings, the Foreign Languages program is now also offering Elementary sections of Latin and Chinese.

Biblioteca Virtual del Español

La Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes, nacida el 27 de julio de 1999 por iniciativa de la Universidad de Alicante, Banco Santander y la Fundación Marcelino Botín, se desarrolla en la actualidad bajo la tutela de la Fundación Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes, que preside el escritor Mario Vargas Llosa. Su objetivo es la difusión de la literatura y las letras hispanoamericanas en el mundo, y ofrece en la actualidad a través de la Red libre acceso a sus fondos, compuestos por miles de registros bibliográficos en diferentes modalidades (texto, imagen, vídeo, audio y formatos combinados).

 

Nuevo enlace de interés para estudiantes y profesores

La Asociación de Editores de Revistas Culturales de España (ARCE) agrupa a las más importantes revistas de pensamiento y cultura editadas en España, con difusion internacional, cubriendo un amplio abanico temático desde la literatura y el arte, hasta las ciencias sociales y el pensamiento político, pasando por la arquitectura, el diseño, la fotografía, las artes escénicas, la música y las demás formas de creación y expresión cultural. El portal www.revistasculturales.com, espacio creado por ARCE, posee los contenidos culturales más interesantes editados por las revistas culturales españolas, y se constituye en un espacio privilegiado en la red para la difusión y proyección de la cultura española, para el debate cultural abierto a la participación de los lectores y autores. Este portal, finalmente, supone la consolidación de ARCE que en sus más de 25 años de existencia ha sido y es un punto de información y reflexión cultural y un punto de encuentro entre los autores, editores y lectores de estas publicaciones.
