Mission and Vision

Our mission is to support the success of local entrepreneurs through education, University resources, and community engagement.

To this end, the incubator hopes of foster a unique and collaborative entrepreneurial environment that embraces the expertise and resources of UNCP, the diversity of UNCP students, and the culture and heritage of the community.

To achieve this mission, the incubator has three primary goals:

  • Create a centralized location for entrepreneurial activity and interaction in the community
  • Support entrepreneurs through facility access, UNCP faculty experts, student interaction, and incubator services
  • Provide students with the opportunity to gain real world experience by interacting with incubator tenants and regional businesses

History

The Entrepreneurship Incubator is proud to be part of a rich institutional and regional heritage.  The Incubator is located in historic Pembroke, North Carolina.  Pembroke is known for its Native American history and the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, a state recognized tribe and the largest tribe east of the Mississippi River.

The Incubator is part of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, the first American Indian state funded school.  Founded in 1887 as the Croatan Normal School with a mission to educate American Indian teachers, the institution has maintained its  mission to educate a diverse student population.  Today, UNCP offers several Baccalaureate and Master’s level degrees.
