Welcome to The Graduate School at UNCP where over 40 paths to degree completion are offered and learning is personal, practical and powerful. 

 

Graduate School Scholarship Winners

 

Newly established for this YEAR OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL, the Graduate School Tuition Scholarships will be annually awarded to two exceptional graduate students to assist them with paying for their graduate school tuition.

 

Recipients of the $250 scholarship are selected on the basis of academic achievement, community engagement, and service to the university.

Dr. Ben Bahr Wins Graduate Faculty Mentor Award

     The Graduate School is pleased to announce Dr. Ben Bahr as the winner of the newly-created UNCP Graduate Faculty Mentor Award! The award is designed to underscore the importance of collaborative research and to recognize, reward, and support sustained collaborative academic activity by the faculty with the graduate students.

     The Selection Committee received a number of extremely competitive applications this year, across multiple disciplines, ranging from Nursing, English, Theatre and Foreign Languages, Counseling, and Public Administration.

Dr. Bahr, exemplifies all of the qualities that the award is meant to honor. He will be recognized at the Faculty Appreciation Dinner on April 28th.

New Graduate Program Offerings

 

Counseling Programs Wilmington Initiative

Starting in August, students can take up to eight counseling courses without leaving the Wilmington area.  Courses are part of UNCP’s CACREP Accredited Professional School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs.  The eight courses will be offered at Cape Fear CC and online with plans to make all courses for the two programs available in the area, given sufficient student interest. Graduate Certificate Programs

UNCP is pleased to offer its first Graduate Certificate Programs. A Graduate Certificate program provides specific professional education in an area of study.  A graduate certificate program may be gained as a stand-alone credential, in conjunction with or after a graduate degree is earned or prior to and towards a master’s degree, depending on the program. Successful completion of a certificate is notated on one’s academic transcript.

Social Work Department Earns Reaccreditation

The Department of Social Work was recently notified by the Council on Social Work Education that the Commission on Accreditation voted to reaffirm the program's accreditation through February 2024. Congratulations to our excellent Social Work programs.

 

Counseling Programs Receive International Recognition

The UNCP Counseling Programs was honored with becoming registered with the International Registry of Counsellor Education Programs (IRCEP).  Link for more information

    UNCP was again (2016) ranked by US News and World Report as among the Best Online Graduate Education Programs.

 

 

      Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Professional School Counseling programs received accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP).

 

    MSN Program received accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
