Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to The University of North Carolina at Pembroke! Your first step towards becoming a part of #BRAVENATION begins with Online Orientation. All orientation sessions for the Spring are online. There will not be any in person sessions for the Spring.
Please complete the following steps:
STEP 1: Register Online
Please note - all reservations are made under the student's name and student ID Banner number. Web reservations are the most expedient way to make your reservation. Do not use a cell phone or tablet. Online reservations are processed immediately and you will receive an email confirmation at the time you make the reservation.
- Register Online:
- Set up your BraveWeb account. For information on how to set up your BraveWeb account, please visit www.uncp.edu/doit/braveweb-info.
- Once you have your BraveWeb account setup, please click on the Orientation Registration tab and log into the account using your BraveWeb username and password.
- Follow the instructions and register for online orientation.
- Complete all modules and assessments. Failure to complete online orientation may impact your ability to register for classes.

STEP 2: Complete Medical Form
Please submit an online copy of your immunization records and complete the Office of Student Health Services medical form. Please submit forms online prior to Orientation. You can submit the form online at https://uncp.medicatconnect.com.
North Carolina Law requires all students enrolling in five or more semester hours to submit a copy of their immunization records to their respective institutions.
Be Advised: Registered students taking six (6) or more credit hours are required to purchase the Student Health Insurance Plan, with the following exceptions: distance education students (students taking off campus and Internet only courses) and students who submit evidence of equivalent coverage satisfactory to the policyholder may waive coverage. Students can begin waiving the insurance on June 1st at the following website www.studentbluenc.com/#/uncp. Waiver deadlines vary each semester. If you do not complete the waiver procedure, you will be enrolled in the student insurance and be expected to pay the premium associated with the insurance policy.
STEP 3: Complete FAFSA
To seek federal financial aid or UNC Pembroke scholarships, please submit your online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov, and visit the Financial Aid website at www.uncp.edu/fa regarding scholarships. UNC Pembroke’s Federal school code is 002954. All students should complete the FAFSA prior to completing the online orientation modules. STEP 4 Complete Housing Agreement Application (if applicable)
First-year students at UNC Pembroke are required to reside on campus for their first academic Year. This requirement may be waived based on certain requirements. For information concerning the waiver or to apply for housing, please visit www.uncp.edu/housing/.

- Academic Advising:
Academic advising is facilitated by your assigned department. After completing all online orientation modules you will be provided with the contact information needed to get advised and register for classes. Additionally, your department will be given your name so they can reach out and assist you with registration. If you have any questions or concerns about registering for classes, please call New Student Programs at 910.521.6243.
- Braves Card:
The Braves Card is a single source card for purchasing food and services at UNC Pembroke. It is also your identification card for UNC Pembroke events. You will receive your Braves Card at orientation. For additional information about your Braves Card, please contact the Braves Card office at 910.521.6845 or visit www.uncp.edu/bravescard.
- College Credit:
If you received college credit, please send an official transcript from the college prior to attending orientation. Please note that your high school transcript is not enough to grant college credit. Additionally, if you have taken any AP, CLEP or IB test, please submit your official test scores to Undergraduate Admissions for evaluation. For information concerning college credit, please contact the Admissions office at 910.521.6262 or the Center for Student Success at 910.521.6625.
- In-State Residency:
Effective February 20, 2017: Any new student, who desires consideration for in-state residency for tuition purposes, will need to complete the state-required Residency Determination Service electronic interview. The centralized residency determination service can be accessed using the following link: http://www.ncresidency.org. Upon completion, students will receive a Residency Certification Number (RCN). This unique identifier will allow all UNC System campuses to access your residency status. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 910.521.6262 with any questions.
- Mail Services:
Mail Services offers a variety of services such as mail and package delivery, stamp sales, and parcel shipping and receiving. It is also an official Passport Acceptance Facility. The fee for receiving mail and parcels on campus is $25 per year and is non-refundable. This service is available for students living in on-campus housing only.
- Student Rights and Responsibilities Overview (Student Code of Conduct):
All students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and accountable manner at all times. The Student Code of Conduct outlines prohibited conduct and assist students in understanding their rights and responsibilities while living and learning in the University community. The Student Code of Conduct can be located online at www.uncp.edu/handbook. Please review the Student Code of Conduct as it applies to all students including online and distance education.
- Students with Disabilities:
Students who have a disability and need accommodations should contact the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) at 910.521.6695.
- UNCP Email Account:
Every UNC Pembroke student is assigned a Bravemail email account. All official communication (including billing and financial aid) is sent to the student’s Bravemail account. It is important that you check this account regularly for important information. To access your email go to www.uncp.edu and click on the MENU tab. The BRAVEMAIL (STUDENT) link will take you the login page for your email account. Use your BraveWeb username and password to log into Bravemail.
- Alcohol EDU & HAVEN Requirement:
AlcoholEdu & Haven Requirement:
As part of our commitment to overall campus wellness, AlcoholEdu and Haven are comprehensive prevention programs that UNC Pembroke expects all new students to complete. Having all new students complete AlcoholEdu and Haven is how UNCP meets federal requirements for quality education (i.e., Safe and Drug Free Schools and Community Act, Title IV from the U.S. Department of Education and Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act PL 103-322) and ensures that all students on and off campus are given resources to enhance their lives—whether that be fostering personal life skills or helping students understand how they might help friends, family members, or peers.
AlcoholEdu and Haven for College – Everfi are online, non-opinionated, science-based alcohol abuse and sexual assault prevention courses. Whether you use alcohol or not, AlcoholEdu will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and help you better cope with the alcohol use behavior of your peers. You will receive an email on January 8 from our AlcoholEdu/Haven Coordinator, Kathryn Kelly. The email will announce that you may begin AlcoholEdu and Haven online programs. The courses have two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement and register for future classes at UNCP. Deadlines for completion will be included in the email from the AlcoholEdu/Haven Coordinator.
AlcoholEdu and Haven both take approximately 2.5 – 3 hours to complete, and we recommend that you take the courses in multiple sittings. A grade of 70 or higher is required for successful completion of AlcoholEdu; if you do not receive at least a 70, you may return to the course and complete a retest. Haven does not require a passing score, but completion of all courses modules is required.
