2018 ONLINE/DISTANCE EDUCATION ORIENTATION
Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to The University of North Carolina at Pembroke! Your first step towards becoming a part of #BRAVENATION begins with Online Orientation.
Online orientation is required for all online and distance education students.
STEP 1: Register Online
Please note - all reservations are made under the student’s name and student ID Banner number. Web reservations are the most expedient way to make your reservation. Do not use a cell phone or tablet. Online reservations are processed immediately and you will receive an email confirmation at the time you make the reservation. Your required non-refundable $75 New Student Orientation fee can be paid once you register for your orientation session by using your MasterCard or VISA. Once this fee is paid you have declared your intent to attend UNC Pembroke. If you are unable to pay the required non-refundable $75 New Student Orientation fee at the time of your reservation, there is an option to defer your payment to your fall tuition bill on the payment page for orientation.
- Set up your BraveWeb account. For information on how to set up your BraveWeb account, please visit www.uncp.edu/doit/braveweb-info.
- Once you have your BraveWeb account setup, please click on the Orientation Registration tab and log into the account using your BraveWeb username and password. (UNC Pembroke - Shibboleth Login) You will be directed to the Visual Zen Orientation Registration System.
- Follow the instructions and register for online orientation.
- Complete all modules and assessments.
- Failure to complete online orientation may impact your ability to register for classes.

- Academic Advising:
Academic advising is facilitated by your assigned department. After completing all online orientation modules you will be provided with the contact information needed to get advised and register for classes. Additionally, your department will be given your name so they can reach out and assist you with registration. If you have any questions or concerns about registering for classes, please call New Student Programs at 910.521.6243.
- Financial Aid:
To seek federal financial aid or UNC Pembroke scholarships, please submit your online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov, and visit the Financial Aid website at www.uncp.edu/fa regarding scholarships. UNC Pembroke’s Federal school code is 002954. All students should complete the FAFSA prior to completing the online orientation modules. - In-State Residency:
Effective February 20, 2017: Any new student, who desires consideration for in-state residency for tuition purposes, will need to complete the state-required Residency Determination Service electronic interview. The centralized residency determination service can be accessed using the following link: http://www.ncresidency.org. Upon completion, students will receive a Residency Certification Number (RCN). This unique identifier will allow all UNC System campuses to access your residency status. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 910.521.6262 with any questions.
- Student Rights and Responsibilities Overview (Student Code of Conduct):
All students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and accountable manner at all times. The Student Code of Conduct outlines prohibited conduct and assist students in understanding their rights and responsibilities while living and learning in the University community. The Student Code of Conduct can be located online at www.uncp.edu/handbook. Please review the Student Code of Conduct as it applies to all students including online and distance education.
- Students with Disabilities:
Students who have a disability and need accommodations should contact the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) at 910.521.6695.
- UNCP Email Account:
Every UNC Pembroke student is assigned a Bravemail email account. All official communication (including billing and financial aid) is sent to the student’s Bravemail account. It is important that you check this account regularly for important information. To access your email go to www.uncp.edu and click on the MENU tab. The BRAVEMAIL (STUDENT) link will take you the login page for your email account. Use your BraveWeb username and password to log into Bravemail.
