Assistant General Counsel
Kelvin Jacobs joined the chancellor's staff in January 2015 as the assistant general counsel. Formerly with Legal Aid of North Carolina, Mr. Jacobs earned his doctor of jurisprudence from North Carolina Central University. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a captain.
Mr. Jacobs provides legal advice to academic and administrative offices across campus; reviews, drafts, and negotiates university contracts; and drafts legal documents and memoranda of law. He also assists with matters of compliance with state and federal law; drafts, reviews, and revises university policies and conducts trainings on those polices; and he oversees grievance proceedings.
Tina Rodgers joined the chancellor’s staff in 2011 and became a staff member in the general counsel’s office in late 2014. She studied mass communication at UNC Pembroke, earning her bachelor’s degree in 2013.
In her position with the general counsel’s office, Ms. Rodgers oversees the university’s policies and regulations, including researching laws and statutes for their interpretation. She also is the recording secretary to the Board of Trustees, ensuring accurate meeting minutes, providing notices of public meetings, preparing resolutions, and maintaining an account of action items.
