Tuition Surcharge and Refund Appeal Committee

The purpose of TSRAC is to review appeals submitted by students who incurred a tuition surcharge or students who disagree with a refund decision.  According to policy, students appealing the surchage have 30 days after receiving the bill to formally appeal.  The committee reviews appeals according the Tuition Surcharge Guidelines (1000.1.5[G]) and makes a decision by unanimous vote to waive the fees incurred.

Students appealing a refund decision must file the written appeal with the appropriate office or committee to request a refund appeal. To receive any refund for a withdrawal, the student must follow the official withdrawal process of the university. The university's refund schedule for students officially withdrawing or dropping to part-time status is as follows:

  • Students withdrawing after fifty percent of the semester or term has expired will not be considered for a refund, regardless of the reasons(s) necessitating the withdrawal.
  • Requests for refunds submitted later than one year after the end of the semester or term for which the refund request is made will not be considered, regardless of reason(s).

The committee reviews appeals according the Refund Regulation and makes a decision by unanimous vote to waive the fees incurred.
