About the Artist:
Michelle Connolly is a mixed media artist from the United Kingdom. She currently works and resides in Wilmington, North Carolina. Connolly's recent body of artwork "ALL Sorts" shows her play with materials in bas relief as well as three dimensional form. Connolly offers figurative and abstract subjects juxtaposed to create an environment for characters which are created out of found materials (belt buckles, cigar boxes, drift wood, fabrics and glass etc) combined with paint and pastel.
The works take on a life of their own with their own personality, raw energy and quirky nature. Michelle works in a free and experimental way enjoying the element of surprise and improvisation in painting and mixed media. Connolly works in ACME Art Studios in Wilmington NC on multiple pieces at a time and is inspired by all she loves … people, animals, nature, music, travels, theatre, dance .. a rich visual life which leads to her saying 'Never A Dull Moment' in the comfortable chaos of her busy studio.
